IBRAHIMA’S STORY

At just 8 years old, Ibrahima embarked on the journey of his life. He was living in Africa with his grandmother and his mother was worried about the lack of opportunity and the dangers in his community. His grandmother packed him up and put him on a plane to Georgia to live with his parents. Her hopes were high that this new direction would be his path to a bright future.

Unfortunately, Ibrahima found peril and danger in his new surroundings as well. Shy and unable to speak the language, he became a target for ridicule among his peers at school. After a particularly traumatic bullying experience, his life changed forever – physically and emotionally.

In an effort to get Ibrahima back on track, his parents pushed him to join his local Boys & Girls Club. Resistant and anxious at first, it took Ibrahima time to settle in and find trust. Slowly, the support and encouragement from staff and peers inspired him to turn his most difficult moments into a story of personal triumph.

Today, Ibrahima serves as a steady and comforting voice for kids at his Club. He advocates for his peers to #StandUp in the face of bullies. He remembers those around him who were afraid to speak up for him and strives to be the one who steps up for others. Thank you! You helped create a great future for Ibrahima – a future driven by the power of his voice.
