We hope you and your families are doing well!
As you know, over the past few weeks, we have been conducting a lot of research and analysis to make a decision regarding our summer programming. We announced earlier this month that we are planning to keep our locations closed in June. We have made the difficult decision to keep our Club doors closed in July as well.
We will be issuing full refunds to all parents and/or guardians who have paid for summer programming. No further action is needed on your part. Our Executive Directors will reach out to you for any additional information they need. We have hundreds of transactions to process so please give us until June 1 to complete.
We want you to know that this was a very difficult decision to make as we are missing your children and our face-to-face time together so much. We also know that you need our support.
Our commitment to keeping our staff and your children safe is always our number one priority.
While we are hopeful to reopen in the fall and are actively preparing to do so, we need time to properly plan and get ready to serve your kids and teens in this new environment. Over the next couple of months, we will be securing cleaning supplies and safety equipment, coming up with new processes and procedures, training our staff to operate in new ways, and making updates to our facility to support safe social distancing guidelines.
We know you need support and we are committed to fulfilling our mission of helping your kids reach their full potential.
THIS SUMMER, WE WILL CONTINUE TO SERVE YOUR KIDS AND FAMILIES IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS:
- Hosting Virtual Programming – On June 1, we are launching “The Club” – a virtual space where youth can connect, create, and collaborate. Each week, your trained and trusted Boys & Girls Club staff will host live programs such as recess and cooking classes, as well as on-demand programs such as music making and virtual field trips. We’ll have special sessions for “Teens Only” focused on preparing for college and career. All virtual programming will be 100% free of charge. STAY TUNED…you will receive details on how to sign up as a virtual member next week!
- Providing Critical Resources – Throughout the summer, we will continue to provide food support to those in our Boys & Girls Club community who need it. Look out for details via text to find out the days and times that meals will be provided at your Club. We are also working to connect families that have challenges with technology and devices with the resources you need. If you are having issues with food or technology, please reach out to your Executive Director and let them know.
- Launching Club Zoom – In addition to offering virtual programs, your kids and teens will be able to virtually connect with their Club families, including friends and staff, through Club Zoom. We are here for your kids and teens and know they may need a space to talk about their feelings and process their emotions. Through fun, play, and connection, this will be a space to start to heal together!
- Introducing Club Connect – Through this initiative, we will be connecting with you and your children in real life – social distance style. Club Connect will include events and activities like our mobile party bus, drive thru birthday parties, family picnics, parades and much more!
