You Helped Us Create Inspiring Spaces

You Helped Us Create Inspiring Spaces
August 3, 2018 BGCMA

Our kids deserve the best and over the past few years, your support has allowed us to make our spaces warmer, more inviting, and more inspiring for the staff and members that walk through our doors each day. In total, because of you, we’ve been able to complete renovations and/or refreshes at nearly 15 Club locations including Camp Kiwanis – our 160-acre year-round resident camp in Danielsville, GA. We also completely renovated our pool at Samuel L. Jones Boys & Girls Club to serve not only Club kids and teens, but also the entire community.

We believe it is our job to serve the kids and families that need us most. This has meant shifting a few of our locations to new areas of the city and saying goodbye to sites as well. We bid farewell to two of our longest-standing Club locations – George Washington Carver

Brookhaven Farewell Celebration

Boys & Girls Club & Brookhaven Boys & Girls Club. We also said goodbye to our Adamsville Boys & Girls Club site. We will always cherish the families we met, the friendships we started, and the memories we made along the way.

At-Promise Youth Center Ribbon Cutting

In the midst of these farewells, we celebrated with you the opening of several sites, strategically positioned to serve more kids better. We opened the At-Promise Boys & Girls Club in historic English Avenue, a partnership with the Atlanta Police Foundation and the Atlanta Police Department to empower youth and reduce the number of young people in the criminal justice system. We celebrated the opening of the Howard Warner Boys & Girls Club in Coweta County in the Chalk Level Neighborhood with tremendous support from the City Council, Newnan/Coweta Board of Directors, and the entire community. We are continuing to serve nearly all of the kids and families from our Brookhaven Club at our new Chamblee location, featuring double the building space and the capacity to serve 50 percent more kids.

In 2017, your commitment also supported the groundbreaking of our John H. Harland Boys & Girls Club: The Innovation & Expression Studio (T.I.E.S.).

Slated to open in Q1 2019, the new Club will use a creative youth development approach driven by arts, innovation, and expression. We will be able to reach more than 200 kids and teens each day on the Westside and offer up the space for thousands of kids across the Boys & Girls Club family.

Alongside you, we look forward to shaping new lives and making new memories in these spaces! Thank you!
