Dear Parents & Guardians –

Hope all is well with you!

The time is finally here! We are officially opening the new John H. Harland Boys & Girls Club: The Innovation & Expression Studio (T.I.E.S) on Monday, March 4. The address is 434 Peeples Street Atlanta, Georgia 30310.

My name is Mary Moua. I’ve been with Boys & Girls Club for 8 years and will be serving as Artistic Executive Director at the new location. We have a great team of folks working with your kids. I’ve included a snapshot in the attached.

As we make this transition, I’m happy to report you should see no gap in care for your children.

All members involved with our Woolfolk Boys & Girls Club at Tuskegee Airmen Global Academy – please report to this new location on March 4. In order to secure your spot, you will need to complete a quick 5-minute survey. You may have already received a link to this via text message. If you did not, please visit the front desk and they will direct you how to complete.  After completing the survey, your membership will transfer over directly. You will not need to complete any additional paperwork or pay any additional dues this school year.

All members involved with Boys & Girls Club through CNG at Tuskegee Airmen Global Academy – you will see no changes. Programming will continue to operate here at the school ongoing.

For those coming to the new Club, we couldn’t be more excited to show you the space and discuss all of the experiences in store for your kids and teens. We will be hosting a Parent Orientation on March 12, 6:00-7:30pm and March 14, 6:00-7:30pm. Please join us to meet the team and check out the new space.

We will also be hosting a Community Celebration on Thursday, March 28 from 5-8pm. We hope you can join us for food, music, and fun. RSVP here – www.bgcma.org/harlandcelebration/.

In this new location, our focus will remain the same – helping kids to reach their full potential – but we will use a creative youth development approach driven by arts, innovation, and expression.

Programs will center on the following areas:

  • Visual arts – with programs such as drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, photography, filmmaking, sculpture, textile arts, and graphic design.
  • Performing arts – with programs such as theatre, puppetry, dance, music, spoken word, and public speaking.
  • Culinary arts – with programs such as cooking, gardening, and overall dining etiquette.

We will continue to pick up from the following schools and transport kids and teens to the Club: Cascade Elementary, Finch Elementary, M. Agnes Jones Elementary, KIPP STRIVE Primary, KIPP STRIVE Academy, Brown Middle School, Sylvan Hills Middle School, and Washington High School.

You and/or an approved guardian will be responsible for picking up your child/children from the Harland T.I.E.S Club at the end of the day.

We are proud of the staff that has served here at Woolfolk and are working to make their transition as smooth as possible. We’ve identified staffing needs at several of our Boys & Girls Club locations across the city and hope to keep as many of them in the Boys & Girls Club family as possible.

If you have any additional questions about this transition, feel free to reach out directly to either me or Stephanie Reynolds. You can find our contact information below.

We appreciate you entrusting us with your kids and have enjoyed getting to know you and your families. We look forward to many more years, working with you, to help kids and teens get college and career ready, live healthy, and build character and leadership skills.

Thanks!
