A Letter From Our Corporate Board Chair, Simon H. Bloom, Esq.
January 22, 2020 BGCMA

Hi everyone –

I hope you are having a wonderful start to the new year!

My name is Simon Bloom and I will be serving as the new Board Chair for Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta. Alongside our talented and passionate staff, as well as our Corporate and County Board members, I will be leading the strategic direction of the organization as we search for our next transformational leader.

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to those of you who I haven’t had a chance to work with and reacquaint myself with those of you who have supported this mission alongside me over the past 17 years.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta and the work we do each day at our 20+ Clubs holds a deep place in my heart. I have spent nearly 20 years in this movement, most recently serving as the Chair of the Resource Development Committee, the chief liaison between the Corporate Board and the County Boards, and the Board Chair Elect.

Over the years, I have seen amazing progress with this organization. We are truly changing the lives of thousands of youth and putting them on the path to a great future. Thank you for all you do each day to support our kids and our Clubs.

As I look back to 2019, we have a lot to celebrate. Our members are volunteering in their communities, graduating high school with a plan for the future, getting prepared for the workforce, and making healthy choices. Because of your support, we have made significant progress toward our 2020 strategic goals.

As we move forward in 2020, we will continue to change and evolve to meet the growing needs of our youth. We have to stay nimble and innovative as the landscape changes around us. We have a strong team in place to guide our decisions and keep our mission front and center.

I’m excited to share that Candice Moore, former Chief Development Officer and Chief Strategy Officer for BGCMA, has joined the team as Interim CEO.  She has nearly 20 years of experience with the Boys & Girls Club movement having served as a board member, national partner, leader at BGCA, and finally a member of our senior team. Collectively, our senior leadership team has 90 years of experience in the Boys & Girls Club movement.  We have a board that is passionate about our organization and has the relationships we need to continue to meet the challenges that our kids face.

Regarding the search for our next leader, we have made significant progress. We have been working alongside Egon Zehnder – a top executive search firm – to help with the process. We have identified several strong candidates with a wealth of knowledge, expertise, and passion. We will keep you updated as we finalize our choice.

I look forward to working with you this year to support this great organization and the nearly 10,000 kids and teens that are impacted by our Clubs every year. Together, we can have a profound impact on their lives, as well as the future of our city.

Here’s to an amazing 2020!

Sincerely,

Simon Bloom
