Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta Announces Redesigned Website
New site shows the impact BGCMA has on kids and why BGCMA is a ‘place where PROMISE lives’June 24, 2008
ATLANTA (June 24, 2008) – Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta (BGCMA) announces the re-design of its Web site, www.bgcma.org, and rolls out BGCMA’s new branding, ‘a place where PROMISE lives.’
The new site, designed by Jackson Spalding, was developed to meet the needs of the organization’s growth and to provide an updated, informative and interactive Web site for BGCMA’s staff, parents, supporters, volunteers and the community at large.
Improvements were made to the site’s design, functionality, usability and navigation. The re-design incorporates events, news, locations, career opportunities and staff information that are managed through a simple, custom-built content management system (CMS) Jackson Spalding created specifically for BGCMA. The site also provides an easy-to-use online donation interface, as well as information on all of BGCMA’s involvement opportunities.
New features specific to BGCMA include Club member success stories and donor profiles. In the success stories, kids share how being a part of Boys & Girls Clubs have impacted their lives, and the donor profiles showcase BGCMA’s supporters and their involvement with the organization.
“We needed to update our online presence, and we hope to educate everyone on how our programs, our staff and our donors together impact thousands of kids’ lives every day throughout our communities,” said Missy Dugan, vice president of Marketing & Development for BGCMA.
BGCMA is an established non-profit focused on providing quality after-school programming for underprivileged youth in Atlanta, and has been operating in Atlanta since 1938.
“For more than 70 years, we have fulfilled our promise to provide a safe and positive environment for youth that offers opportunity, support and guidance so our kids can realize the promise that lies within them – to become responsible, productive adults. Many people recognize the name Boys & Girls Clubs, but often times cannot recall what we do, and they are not familiar with the astounding affect we have on the children we serve and the community in which they live.”
More than 70 percent of the youth served by BGCMA come from disadvantaged family, social or economic circumstances. However, BGCMA Club members graduate high school and finish college at a rate higher than the national average. Nationally, more than 57 percent of alumni surveyed by Boys & Girls Clubs of America said their Boys & Girls Club “saved their life.”
“Here in Atlanta, we are changing lives, saving lives and helping to shape the future of your community,” said Dugan. “We make promises to our kids, our kids promise us they’ll put their best foot forward, and our supporters help us provide promising opportunities to more than 17,000 kids. We hope our Web site will be the first of many initiatives to convey this message. We encourage everyone to visit the new www.bgcma.org and find out why BGCMA is ‘a place where PROMISE lives.’”
