Success Story
Raymone is Thankful for the Blessings in his Life
Raymone Posey, a member of the Franklin Road Club and Marietta High School student, was one of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta’s 2008 Youth of the Year finalists.
He believes it’s important to keep a positive attitude and keep his eye on the future. Overcoming adversities at a young age taught Raymone to maintain his sense of pride and confidence.
Because of his past and struggles he endured, Raymone felt the need to act tough all the time. With his ‘tough’ exterior, Raymone seemed unapproachable and could not make friends. He felt alone most of the time with nothing to do– until he discovered the Club.
He was asked to play basketball by some kids in the neighborhood, and from that day forward, Raymone could be found at the Club – from the time he left school until the time the Club closed. Slowly, his tough exterior melted away, and he found friends, guidance and care at his Club.
He now volunteers within his Club and community and says, “I’ve received so many blessings in life that it only makes sense to give back to the less fortunate.”
He wants to become an architect and has plans to attend college and become the first in his family to graduate. Wise beyond his teenage years, he says, “If life can show you the slightest love, you can make your future lovable.”
