ATLANTA (May 19, 2008) – Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta (BGCMA) kicks off its annual campaign to Make the Promise to over 17,000 local youth.
Each day, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta opens its doors to provide a positive place for youth – a place that provides hope, opportunity, and most importantly, promise. The promise that a caring adult will be there to offer guidance and a nurturing environment, and that boys and girls will given the tools they need to become successful and productive citizens.
The Make the Promise campaign will kickoff on Thursday, May 22 at 3:00pm with a celebration at Brookhaven Boys & Girls Club. Special guests will include Georgia native and former Boys & Girls Club member, J. Barry Griswell, who will deliver the keynote address. Griswell is the Chairman and CEO of The Principal Financial Group based in Des Moines, Iowa.
Co-Chairs Armin Brecher and Glen Jackson are spearheading the campaign to raise $3.2 million which will benefit the organization’s operations, programs, and improvement efforts.
“Our donors can be assured that their contribution will have a lasting impact on a young boy or girl. They are helping to create a brighter future for these kids and are empowering them to fulfill their promise," said Brecher.
In addition to the keynote address delivered by Griswell, the kick-off event will offer tours of the Brookhaven facility, plus a panel discussion featuring boys and girls who will share their positive experiences as Club members.
