June 3, 2011

The A.R. “Gus” Barksdale Boys & Girls Club raised over $52,000 for Club members at its 27 Annual Super Saturday Night fundraising gala hosted at the Georgia International Horse Park on May 21.
More than 200 guests came out and enjoyed this year’s ‘casino night’ theme complete with authentic casino-style gaming tables, professional dealers and chips. An Elvis impersonator serenaded guests with classic songs throughout the evening.
Guest also took pleasure in a silent auction complete with artwork by Club members and a raffle, including such prizes as a Longhorn’s dinner for 20 at the winners’ home, the Big Green Egg and golf at Barnsley Gardens. At the end of the night, the chip-leader won two AirTran tickets and a VIP tour and tasting for two at the Luna Vineyards in Napa Valley.
“I was pleased with the turn out for Super Saturday Night. It was wonderful to see so many people come together for such a great cause. The Boys & Girls Clubs helps so many young people and this is just a small way of giving back,” said Al Moreno, Rockdale Club Board Chair and Senior Vice President at SunTrust

The Club will be hosting a tour on Wednesday, June 15 at 12:00 p.m. and lunch will be provided. The Club is located on O’Kelly Street, less than one mile from the Rockdale Housing Authority.
