Madison & Morgan County - The Need Is Great and Growing
No Outlet for Kids Today – A large segment of the youth population in Morgan County is not involved in productive activities or served by existing programs, and most kids complain of having no place to go and many end up in trouble.
Often, positive role models are not present but rather many of our children know only neglect and abuse.
Life Skills teaching and mentoring are lacking especially when it comes to money management and budgeting – starting young is the key.
Opportunities to learn new, marketable skills are few and poverty persists.
Gangs are on our doorstep.
Crime Growth will become a countywide issue and not just isolated events.
Hear What People Are Saying...
Tom E. DuPree, Jr. Mayor of Madison As wonderful as Madison is we have boys and girls here with such economic and life skill pressures at home that they simply are unable to effectively connect to the world we live in. The Boys and Girls Club can be that missing bridge to this enormous pool of human talent, hope and desire to achieve. Let’s take this treasure of our communities youth and more fully prepare, excite and monitor them. Lets focus on character, morals, skills, life planning, fun and caring--lots of caring. We all need the clarity of daily direction, access and opportunity. Through the Boys and Girls Club, together, let’s truly prepare our community’s men and women of tomorrow for life at its fullest in this wonderful place called Madison.
Phillip Malcolm City of Madison Police Department The Boys and Girls Club is needed in Morgan County because I often hear there are no activities for our youth. Children need structure and positive role models to learn to be productive citizens. I fully support this endeavor.
Stan DeJarnett Superintendent of Morgan County Schools “Morgan County is a community that cares deeply about its children. The Morgan County Schools reflect that care and commitment in our everyday work with our students. We look forward to a productive partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Morgan County on behalf of our children. Together we can help them realize their dreams for the future.”
