We Need Your Help

We want our daughters and granddaughters to succeed in life…to go beyond what we’ve achieved to places we can’t yet imagine. And with the tools, resources and encouragement they have access to, our hope is likely within reason. For many other young girls in Atlanta, the road is rockier and the path more difficult to navigate. These young women are caught in a desperate cycle of poverty, born to teenage mothers who didn’t finish high school and can’t make ends meet. Without help, they may also follow in their mother’s footsteps. At BGCMA, we give girls the vision and motivation to break the cycle of poverty. That’s why our doors open to a place where nearly 6,000 annually are inspired, encouraged and exposed to a new world of possibilities. By becoming a member of the Women’s Giving Circle, you can change these odds. You can give hope and opportunity to girls born into the cycle of poverty and help them break out to a future of success. The Year of the Girl

Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta
Year of the G.I.R.L.

In 2016, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta celebrates the 25th Anniversary of the formal inclusion of girls as members.  This monumental year allows the Clubs to reflect on the impactful programming that has benefited thousands of young women.  Last year alone, nearly 6,000 were inspired, encouraged an exposed to a new world of possibilities. Year of the G.I.R.L. (Growing Inspirational Responsible Leaders) is a yearlong celebration marking our commitment to the growing number of girls we serve, currently comprising 48% of our members.  In 2016, we have a robust calendar of special programs and events which will culminate with the Year of the G.I.R.L. Celebration to recognize the achievements of the girls we serve and honor 25 amazing women who are serving as inspiring role models.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta, our Board of Directors, and the Women’s Giving Circle are pleased to announce our 25 Year of the G.I.R.L. Honorees. See the list here.

Year of the G.I.R.L. Will focus on:

  • EDUCATE our supporters about the issues facing girls and the role BGCMA plays in removing barriers and equipping girls for success.
  • HONOR and recognize women who are serving as inspiring role models.
  • Provide opportunities for women to SERVE as volunteers in support of our programs and initiatives that impact girls.
  • CELEBRATE the girls who are achieving success because of the Club’s intentional focus on programming that empowers girls.
  • Along the way, we hope these efforts will INSPIRE more women to give and get involved.
