Craig Hoffman
Former Club Kid Gives Back
A Boys & Girls Club alumnus and raised by a single parent from Mt. Vernon, N.Y., Craig is happy to give back to the organization that was so influential in his childhood.
With children of his own, the future of today’s youth is at the forefront of his mind. He is the epitome of "pay it forward."
Craig believes if he can help a few Boys & Girls Club members lead a better life, maybe they will return the favor to future generations.
At CareerBuilder, Craig’s job is to help companies and organizations, like Boys & Girls Clubs, match the right people up with the right jobs that bring long-term value to the companies’ culture and values. When BGCMA asked him to be involved and help host a Safe-Zone Career Fair, he jumped at the opportunity.
Hundreds of teen members from BGCMA’s College Bound program came to the career fair. The students were able to present their resumes, talk about current and future opportunities with colleges and network with professionals. The first Safe-Zone Career Fair was held in Atlanta and is now being replicated throughout the country, reaching thousands of kids.
"Goal-setting is the greatest need among children and teens today," Craig says. "Without goals, it is much more difficult to dream and be successful. By showing kids what they can be and sharing my success, kids are given realistic goals they can reach."
Craig is continually amazed by the kids’ passion for learning and the passion each staff member has for the kids. “When you can witness that magical connection between a child and a leader, it stays with you forever.”
"If people asked me how they could help, I would encourage them to give and to develop a passion for mentoring children and shaping the generation of tomorrow."
