Jim Mora Flag Football League
When the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta was reaching out for a partner to help offset the costs for boys and girls in need in metro Atlanta to play in their intramural Flag Football league back in 2004, Jim Mora (former Falcons Head Coach, now Seattle Seahawks Coach) and his wife, Shannon, knew they wanted to help out. The Moras met with the Boys & Girls Club to figure out the details, and the rest was history.
Since that meeting, the Flag Football league has seen amazing growth, as well as the annual Turkey Bowl (the year end Flag Football tournament) -- growing from 12 clubs and over 300 athletes competing in 2005, to all 21 clubs and over 750 athletes competing in 2007. The Jim Mora Count On Me Family Foundation is proud to partner with the Boys & Girls Club in providing continued support for funding the league and year end event.
“We felt that it was important to continue the work we started here in Atlanta with the Jim Mora Flag Football League,” said Shannon Mora, Vice President of the Foundation.“So often, many of the children that come through the Boys and Girls Clubs are products of environments where people are in and out of their lives, with little stability, and we wanted to make sure that the League and the “Turkey Bowl” year end tournament were things they could look forward to each year. We wanted them to know that they could “Count On Us.”
This year, the Jim Mora Flag Football League will be established in six sites designated by the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta to concentrate on growing participation in playing organized football.
