Brief History
Realizing the need for a concentrated effort in the South Cobb area, the Board of Directors implemented a Capital Campaign to raise $2.3 million dollars for a new club and teen center. A donation by the WellStar Health System was the solid foundation needed by the board to approach other business and government leaders to support their efforts for the much-needed new facility. A local businessman, Mr. Malon D. Mimms, confirmed his commitment to the disadvantaged youth by a generous donation allowing the board to start construction of the new club. The new club was named the Michael A. Grant Club, in honor of a former Board President, who has shown great dedication and love for the Cobb County Boys & Girls Clubs and their goals. The new club officially opened its doors with a Grand Opening celebration October 21, 2000.
