Director Q & A

Q & A with the Executive Director – Ziggy Asfaw

Why Boys & Girls Club

I enjoy inspiring children to work hard to achieve their goals. It is rewarding to see them making strides toward their success. I also truly enjoy coaching our team, witnessing their growth, and charging them to reach their fullest potential and be the best that they can be.

Who Influenced Me

My mother instilled a lot of discipline and maturity in me at a young age. She taught me how to be resilient and self-confident.

Advice for our Youth

Embrace who you are and love being yourself. Do your best and do not expect anything to be handed to you. Work hard consistently and you will be great.

Our Impact in the Community

We are known as a safe place and one with a positive family atmosphere. We are a hub for community service leaders, kind staff, and phenomenal members and families.

What Makes Our Club Special

It is a home away from home where a certain magic takes place daily. The children are mild mannered, respectful, and have high expectations for themselves. Staff members are genuine, positive, and kind-hearted. Everyone wants to bring out the best in each other. We are Brookhaven…home of the Blackhawks!
