In 2000, there was a growing need for development in the community. Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta, along with local community leaders, gathered to serve the youth by commencing a youth development program at Norcross Elementary School. The number of youth grew extensively. In 2001, a facility designed for serving youth opened and is known today as the A. Worley Brown Boys & Girls Club. The Club exists due to the generous donations of men, such as Mr. A. Worley Brown, former executive at Rock-Tenn Company, who contributed a large amount of funding to construct the facility. Mr. Brown’s generosity continues through faithful supporters at the Rock-Tenn Company for this club; and today, A. Worley Brown Boys & Girls Club continues to serve the youth of Gwinnett County with quality developmental programs which empower our youth.

Volunteer Opportunities
We are currently seeking volunteers in the area of Education. Specifically, individuals interested in working with children and youth during “Power Hour”, who can offer homework assistance and tutorials between the hours of 2:30 - 5:00pm, Mondays thru Thursdays. We also have specific group projects focusing on club facility maintenance such as landscaping, painting and other areas.
In order to become a volunteer you must:
1) Be at least 16 years of age
2) Complete a Volunteer application
3) Pass the required background check
You will be notified once your background check is cleared and will then be scheduled for a club orientation before officially becoming a volunteer.
* We understand that some high schools require students to complete a minimum number of community service hours for graduation. We do offer some limited volunteer opportunities for students who are interested in performing their service with Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta. For more information on these opportunities send a request to rreid@bgcma.org.
If you are a young professional, we encourage you to get involved in Club Blue, which is always accepting new members. Club Blue is Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta's young professional group and is volunteer based. We volunteer our time and expertise to give back to the Clubs through a variety of service activities. We engage in fun networking socials and special events that ultimately benefit local children who are most in need of our help. Essentially, we party with a purpose to help change lives. Learn more about Club Blue and how to become involved.
If you have any questions, please contact Robin Reid, our Volunteer Manager at rreid@bgcma.org
